About North by Northwest, Lehman said he had wanted to write "the Hitchcock picture to end all Hitchcock pictures," and he was quite successful at doing so with this fun romp across the country that culminates in a famous ending on top of Mount Rushmore. Following that is Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966), which earned Lehman an Oscar nod for his adaptation of Edward Albee's play; Sweet Smell of Success (1957), a film noir that Lehman cowrote with Clifford Odets; and West Side Story (1961), which brought the screenwriter another Oscar nomination for his adaptation of the stage musical by Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents.

Star of the Month: William Powell: "Later Roles"TCM, beginning at 8pmCatch a Classic!Turner Classic Movies’ monthlong Wednesday night salute to legendary actor William Powell concludes tonight with some of his late-career films. While Powell lived to be 91, passing away in 1984, he retired from acting in the mid 1950s, when he was in his early 60s. He went out with a bang, giving memorable performances in titles like the ones airing tonight, beginning with The Senator Was Indiscreet (1947), a comedy starring Powell as the titular senator in a performance that earned him the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor. After that is How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), a screwball comedy led by Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall, which was Powell's second-to-last movie. His final film appearance came in tonight's next film, and it was in one of his more memorable roles: as Doc in the acclaimed comedy/drama Mister Roberts (1955), led by Henry Fonda and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Jack Lemmon. Rounding out the lineup early tomorrow morning are The Girl Who Had Everything (1953), also starring Elizabeth Taylor and Fernando Lamas; and It's a Big Country (1951), an anthology film featuring eight segments from seven directors (Powell plays "The Professor" in the first story, "Interruptions, Interruptions," directed by Richard Thorpe, who had earlier worked with Powell on The Thin Man Goes Home and would also direct the actor in The Girl Who Had Everything).

A Beautiful LifeNetflixOriginal Film!Danish singer Christopher stars in and composed original music for this romantic drama produced in his home country. He plays Elliott, a young fisherman with an extraordinary voice, who gets the chance of a lifetime when he is discovered by successful, high-profile music manager Suzanne (Christine Albeck Børge). She soon pairs Elliott with her estranged daughter and music producer, Lilly (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas). On his way to becoming a star, struggles from Elliott's past threaten not only his big breakthrough, but also a budding romance with Lilly.

The DaysNetflixNew Series!This Japanese series, which is already being compared to HBO's acclaimed and similarly themed 2019 Chernobyl limited series, dramatizes the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident that occurred in March 2011, following events over a period of seven days. From the three perspectives of the government, corporate organizations and those who put their lives on the line, The Days approaches what really happened that day.

LEGO Ninjago: Dragons RisingNetflixNew Series!This computer-animated series is based on the LEGO Ninjago toys and set within the same continuity as the Ninjago series that aired on Netflix. Here, many legendary realms have suddenly combined into one, but their union is unstable. A Spinjitzu Ninja Master must train a new generation of heroes to help find Elemental Dragons who can save the planet before the forces of evil use the same dragon energy to destroy this new world.

iCarlyParamount+Season Premiere!The rebooted series returns for Season 3, in which adulting continues to be complicated for Carly (Miranda Cosgrove) and her friends, with Carly and Freddie (Nathan Kress) struggling to redefine their relationship, Spencer (Jerry Trainor) seeking a return to his roots and Harper's (Laci Mosley) reunion with an old rival leading to an unexpected outcome. The first two episodes are available today; new episodes drop Thursdays.

Scripps National Spelling Bee FinalsION, 8pm Live; also streams on ION Plus and Bounce XLThe 95th installment of this beloved event featuring incredible teen spellers concludes with the final round tonight. All finalists will get cash awards of various levels, depending upon where they place. The champion will receive a $50,000 cash prize, a commemorative medal and the Scripps Cup, the official trophy of the bee. Last year's winner was 14-year-old Harini Logan of San Antonio, who correctly spelled 22 words in a 90-second spell-off, with her winning word being "moorhen."

The Blacklist: "The Hat Trick" & "Blair Foster"NBC, beginning at 8pmNew Time Slot!The hit James Spader-led thriller moves to its new time slot tonight with back-to-back episodes as it enters its final stretch of eight new installments culminating in the July series finale. First, in "The Hat Trick," in an effort to prove their worth to Rep. Hudson (Toby Leonard Moore), Red (James Spader) provides the task force with three criminal cases that are deeper than they appear. Meanwhile, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) helps a friend make amends. Then, in "Blair Foster," when a corrupt lawyer is linked to a string of corporate coverups, Red helps the team investigate her operation, while Sen. Panabaker (Deirdre Lovejoy) and Cooper (Harry Lennix) await a judge's decision on the fate of the task force.

Star of the Month: Katharine Hepburn: "Box Office Poison/Earlier Roles"TCM, beginning at 8pmCatch a Classic!One of the most lauded and loved stars of stage and screen, Katharine Hepburn excelled at portraying sophisticated and independent women. TCM gives Hepburn the Star of the Month honors every Thursday in June with films spanning the 60-plus years of her illustrious career. The tribute starts tonight with some of the not-so-illustrious films from her "Box Office Poison" years, which began with the critically praised but commercially failing (and now a recognized screwball comedy classic) Bringing Up Baby (1938), costarring Cary Grant. Following that is Break of Hearts (1935), a drama also featuring Charles Boyer; Sylvia Scarlett (1935), a romantic comedy that marked Hepburn's first onscreen pairing with Grant and was helmed by her frequent director George Cukor; the 1936 historical drama Mary of Scotland, costarring Fredric March and directed by John Ford; and Quality Street (1937), a period comedy that was the third of Hepburn's three collaborations with director George Stevens. The lineup concludes tomorrow morning with three of Hepburn's earliest films: Christopher Strong (1933), a drama directed by Dorothy Arzner that was Hepburn's second feature; the 1934 drama The Little Minister; and another 1934 drama, Spitfire, costarring Robert Young and Ralph Bellamy.

NBA Finals: Game 1ABC, 8:30pm LiveThe first to win four games claims the title as the NBA's Eastern Conference champions and the Western Conference champion Denver Nuggets duel for their place in history. ABC has exclusive coverage of the NBA Finals through June 18 if the series goes to seven games.

The Dead FilesTravel Channel, 9pmSeason Premiere!The paranormal investigation series returns for Season 15, with former NYPD detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan again helping solve incidents of devastating ghostly activity for beleaguered homeowners. Allan is departing the show early this season, stepping down for a personal break; her final episode will air on June 29. She passes the torch over to fellow medium Cindy Kaza, who will continue to help solve perplexing paranormal problems.

Wild West Chronicles: "The Trials of Temple Houston"INSP, 10pmTemple Houston, the flamboyant son of Sam Houston, works hard to live up to his famous name as a top attorney in the Oklahoma Territory. But his flair for showmanship annoys his courtroom rivals, the Jennings brothers, and the feud erupts into bloodshed.

Eli Roth Presents: The Legion of ExorcistsTravel Channel, 10pmNew Series!This six-episode series hosted by horror filmmaker Eli Roth details terrifying stories of demonic possession. DeadlochPrime VideoNew Series!Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan created, wrote and executive produced this Australian mystery series, a "feminist noir" that features their signature biting comedic tone. The eight-episode series is set in the titular Tasmanian town, a once sleepy seaside hamlet that is left reeling when a local man turns up dead on the beach. Two detectives are thrown together to solve the case: fastidious local senior sergeant Dulcie Collins (Kate Box) and a tough-as-nails blow-in from Darwin, senior investigator Eddie Redcliffe (Madeleine Sami), who are aided by their overeager junior constable, Abby (Nina Oyama). As the town prepares to launch its Winter Feastival — an annual arts, food and culture event — the three women have to put their differences aside and work together to find the killer. The first three episodes are available today; new episodes drop Fridays.
