Sep 01, 2023Sep 01, 2023

In CES 2022, automotive brand Chrysler unveiled its Airflow Concept which paves way for a technology-driven driving system that invites the drivers to rely on artificial intelligence to make their road cruising smart and safe. Fast-forward to CES 2023, the automotive brand brings forth Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit, a steering wheel-free and driverless cabin equipped with a glass-encased 37-inch infotainment system and AI-driven settings and commands. The advanced AI technology that Chrysler employs for its smart cockpit has the ability to learn the driver's preferences over time and can assist them in their daily driving.

Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit can be connected to personal devices, and this digital relationship allows for a virtual personal assistant beyond the vehicle. This AI-powered assistant can automatically install vehicle updates, sync to calendars for schedule and route planning, allow multi-tasking while driving autonomously, recommend parking and charging options, assist with e-commerce services, and connect to other devices and smart-home technology. The Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit also demonstrates Level 3 autonomous driving, allowing for hands off the steering wheel and eyes off the road.

The interior of the Chrysler Synthesis Cockpit is modern and spacious, and the automotive company claims that the materials it will use are ‘sustainable, 100% chrome-free, and include premium features, such as a pair of vegetable-tanned, suspended seats wrapped with an arctic upcycled chrome-free soft trim embellished by a constellation-style perforation. The recycled mélange heather instrument panel is constructed from 100% post-industrial plastics and ocean plastics, and additional distinctive interior highlights include responsibly sourced, textile-infused walnut flooring.’

The overall look embodies a futuristic design, and the cockpit is enveloped with a Galaxy matte black top surface, contrasted by the atmospheric grey gradient of the lower exterior. Chrysler adds LED lighting that illuminates the Chrysler badging and exterior features while also hinting at the technologically advanced and battery-electric personality contained within the cockpit.

The Chrysler Synthesis on display at CES 2023, inspired by the design of the Chrysler Airflow Concept from the previous CES year, represents the next step in the brand's all-electric portfolio and also serves as a preview of Chrysler's future design direction.
