May 21, 2023Tears of the Kingdom: How to open five locks in Wind Temple in TOTK
The major dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have majorly improved since Breath of the Wild‘s Divine Beasts. Once you reach Rito Village and help Tulin find the source of the blizzard, you come to a place called the Wind Temple. This giant Stormwind Ark ship has five locks that need opening, but where do you even start? We’ll tell you how to open the five locks on the Wind Temple in Tears of the Kingdom.
As soon as you’re given free reign to explore the Wind Temple, walk towards the north side of the ship. To the left and right of a small set of stairs are shut gates with opening mechanisms. You can open the one on the left with Ultrahand for a chest containing one Opal. But you’ve probably noticed the one of the right doesn't have a lever to pull.

You can easily fix this by attaching an icicle to the ground nearby on the mechanism. Now, you can pull the lever, open the door, and get Tulin's help to unlock the first lock. Each lock requires Tulin's wind gust ability. Activate it while facing the fan to open the first lock!

You’ll find this lock in the basement, but how do you get there? If you jump off the left side of the ship, you should see two entrances into the basement. One is barred, while the other is open enough to glide through. Use Tulin's ability to cross the gap on the right, and once you’re over, you can use Ultrahand to unlock the other barred entrance. In this area, you’ll think it's a dead end, but you have to look up.

Ascend to the floor above, where you see the hole in the roof. You should see a large rod attached to a gear on the ceiling. To open the next barred entrance, use Ultrahand to grab one of the pieces of stone on the floor. I laid it flat, and attached it to the rod so I could use Ultrahand to twist the gear. The only problem now is that when you’re moving the gear, the entrance opens, but as soon as you let go, it shuts.
With Ultrahand, make the gear spin a few times, then use Recall to rewind it. This way, you can climb up the ladder and enter the next room while the gear is spinning. All you got to do here is use Tulin's wind ability to open the second lock.
This time, make your way back to the first floor, and glide off the right side of the ship. One entrance to the basement is barred, while the other is shielded with icicles. Pull out your bow mid-glide, and break a few of the icicles to safely fly through.
Once inside, head to the right and you’ll find a spinning gear. Use Recall to make it spin the other way, so you can ride it to the other side. Watch out for enemy Constructs on your trek through the basement.
On the other side, you should see a set of gears with a connective rod missing between the two. Using one of the icicles around you, attach it between the gears to open the door. The third lock is behind that door, and you know what to do to unlock it.
For this lock, you won't be able to access it through the basement. Instead, use the large gust of wind on the main floor of the ship to fly high. Make your way to the north side of the ship, and fly on the roof of this structure. You’ll spot two large doors keeping the entrance shut. Just use Ultrahand to throw them open.
Fly down and avoid the numerous lasers that block your path. Just be patient, and make your way down slowly. Once you’re past the lasers, fly to the open room above the giant fan. The fourth lock sits right in this room, ready for Tulin's wind gust.

This final lock also can't be reached from B1. This time, fly off the edge of the ship like you did to reach basement level one. Fly a bit lower, and you should see the entrance to basement level two. The fan to open the final lock is right here, and there you have it!
Now that you’ve discovered how to open the five locks in the Wind Temple for Tears of the Kingdom, you can unlock the main lock and see what awaits you.
